Colloquium “António Bracinha Vieira: Literary and Scientific Work”
As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Library building of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, the colloquium “António Bracinha Vieira: Literary and Scientific Work” will take place on 14–15 May 2026, at the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon (Amphitheatre III).
António Bracinha Vieira is a distinctive figure in the Portuguese intellectual landscape, having developed an interdisciplinary career spanning psychiatry, anthropology, ethology, philosophy, and literature. As the founder of the Portuguese Society for Ethology, he made important contributions through the application of ethological models to the human sciences, as well as through his reflections on evolution, behaviour, and the human condition.
This colloquium will bring together researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds, reflecting the breadth and diversity of his work. It aims to foster dialogue and critical reflection, contributing to a deeper understanding of his scientific and literary legacy.
The event is organised by the Library of the Faculty of Letters (FLUL), in collaboration with the Portuguese Society for Ethology, as part of the anniversary programme.
Participation is open to all interested.
