The scientific journal acta ethologica has been published by SPE in collaboration with ISPA and Springer. This journal is distributed free of charge to SPE members who are up to date with their dues.

 

Acta ethologica publishes research articles (both empirical and theoretical contributions), short communications, commentaries, reviews, and book reviews in the field of ethology and related disciplines, with a strong component in the behavior of humans and other animals. Special emphasis is given to studies that integrate proximate levels (i.e., mechanisms, development) and ultimate levels (i.e., function, evolution) in the analysis of behavior.

 

Although descriptive ethological studies are also accepted, preference is given to experimental and field studies.
